Rigoletto, the deformed court jester, attempts to save his beloved daughter, Gilda, from seduction by the
womanising Duke of Mantua. The score contains such famous arias as the Duke’s ‘La donna e mobile’ and
Gilda’s ‘Caro nome’
Ensnared in the web of court affairs and with a curse placed on him revenge seems to be Rigoletto’s only
solution, an act which fate turns into tragedy.
